are you kidding me?

I just stumbled on this article (via reddit) by Joel Spolsky, author of the (very good) software blog, "Joel on Software." Until now, Joel has been a developer I've looked up to and respected. After reading this article, I want to slap him. If an employer pulled this shit with me, they would find themselves short a developer the following morning.

Lesson: don't be a dick. Especially not a greedy dick.

Yeah that's one shady deal. Obviously he wasn't just "doing his job" as a developer by talking his boss into something that generated that much profit. I agree with the distinction between what is actually your job and what is purposefully going outside of expections to progress the company. I'm glad he making Google money now!
